The Czech Republic’s fibre-optic grid is one of the most developed and technologically advanced in the region. The Czech Republic is directly connected to the largest exchange point in Frankfurt. The Czech peering node is one of only nine European IXPs that have been able to cross the 300 Gbps threshold, which ranks Prague’s high speed connectivity hub among the ten biggest European Internet Exchange Points.
The Fastest Average Connection Speed in the Region
- The Czech Republic benefits from its proximity to Frankfurt (Prague – Frankfurt < 5ms) and technologically advanced networks, thanks to which it has the highest registered value in data transfer in the region
- The Czech peering node is one of only nine European IXPs that have been able to cross the 300 Gbps threshold.
- Average Connection Speed in the Czech Republic is among the 10 fastest in the world with 14.5 Mbps
- The Czech Republic has the highest fixed broadband take-up (subscriptions/100 people) in the region.
- The national strategy of the Czech Republic aims at reaching broadband access with at least 100 Mbps for 50% of households and enterprises by 2020.
- Connection security can be ensured in a number of ways, from dark-fibre leasing to purchasing a dedicated duct including rights of way.
