Introduction

Central and Eastern Europe is considered to be the most attractive business location over the next years to come and ranks ahead of China, India, Russia and Western Europe. The Czech Republic has maintained its stable position and remains one of the leaders of the region. The overall FDI per capita into the Czech Republic is among the highest in the region.

While a few years ago Prague was the only hotspot attracting investments in the services sector, followed by the Moravian capital Brno and Ostrava, the third largest city of the Czech Republic. Other regional centres, such as Olomouc, Hradec Králové or Pilsen with their exceptionally strong academic interface are currently gaining in attractiveness.

The most frequently shared services are financial, accounting and IT services and customer support. Rapidly growing shared services include human resources, purchasing, logistics and legal services.

According to an in-depth study of the Czech labour market conducted by Augur Consulting, more than 87% of Czechs are able to speak at least one foreign language, about 28% two foreign languages and nearly 25% three foreign languages. English, German, Russian, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Slovak are the most widely spoken foreign languages in the Czech Republic.
