Most significant Investor of the Year – Investment with the Greatest Innovation Potential
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFICPN, a member of the Contipro Group, took the top honours in the category Investment with the Greatest Innovation Potential. The company synthesises hyaluronic acid, which is used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and produces wound-healing preparations and other products. CPN focuses on nano-biotechnological research in the medical field. The company began expansion of its laboratories in 2008.

Most significant Investor of the Year – Business Support Services
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFIThe most significant investor of 2008 in the area of business support services was IBM, which established a new headquarters in Prague from which it now directs its operations in Central and Eastern Europe. The Prague headquarters is responsible for business policy and development of innovations and intelligent solutions in 19 other countries, including the Baltic states and Turkey.

Supplier of the Year – Contract of the Year
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFIThe Contract of the Year award was presented to Imopra of Nivnice, near Uherský Brod. The firm is dedicated primarily to precision machining of metals, particularly duralumin alloys. With CzechInvest’s assistance, last year Imopra concluded a major contract for production of alloy parts for automotive air-conditioners.

Supplier of the Year – Technological Benefit of the Year
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFIThe prize for Technological Benefit of the Year was awarded to Strojcar, which with CzechInvest’s assistance received in 2008 an order to produce sections for Airbus A380 wing flaps. “Production for an aircraft manufacturer is very demanding,” says Stanislav Hoffmann, executive director of Strojcar. “They selected us because we demonstrated the highest level of quality.”

Award for the Greatest Contribution to the Development of Investments in the Czech Republic
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFIThe award for the greatest contribution to the development of investments was presented to ČEZ, which over the past three years has invested more than CZK 100 billion in the development of energy infrastructure in the Czech Republic in order to meet the needs of the Czech economy.

AFI Special Prize for Extraordinary Contribution to the Development of the Business Environment in the Czech Republic
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFIThe Association for Foreign Investment presented its Special Prize for Extraordinary Contribution to the Development of the Business Environment in the Czech Republic to Weston Stacey, executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic. As a foreign correspondent, Mr. Stacey has dedicated himself to development in Central and Eastern Europe since the beginning of the 1990s. “When I was here as a journalist, I had the constant, nagging feeling that I would like to not only assess and often criticise, but also to contribute to and improve the investment environment,” says Stacey.

2008 Investor of the Year awards announced

Most Significant Investor of the Year – Manufacturing Industry
23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFIFirst place in the category Most Significant Investor of the Year – Manufacturing Industry went to IVAX, a member of the TEVA group, which is building a practically completely new plant for the production of solid drugs, i.e. tablets, in the former Galena complex in Opava at a cost of more than CZK 1 billion. IVAX currently produces liquid drugs. Most of the new plant’s production will be exported to the United States.

CzechInvest at full strenght at the world´s oldest air show
16 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvestRepresentatives of Czech and French producers of aerospace technology have met at this year’s International Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, for which the aviation industry is a traditional sector. The meeting took place in the pavilion of the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS).
