Award for the Greatest Contribution to the Development of Investments in the Czech Republic

23 Jun. 2009 | CzechInvest, AFI | The award for the greatest contribution to the development of investments was presented to ČEZ, which over the past three years has invested more than CZK 100 billion in the development of energy infrastructure in the Czech Republic in order to meet the needs of the Czech economy.

“In connection with the economic crisis we accelerated our investment in the refurbishment of the network and production complexes. At a time when orders are generally declining, we want to at least partially mitigate the negative impact on Czech firms and to provide job security for thousands of people,” explains Martin Roman, CEO of ČEZ.

Today Czech industry uses more than half of all electricity generated by ČEZ. A large part of the company’s investment was aimed directly at enhancing the infrastructure for new investors. “For example, last year in northern Moravia we faced a situation where so many parties needed a new connection that we were almost unable to connect all of them,” adds Roman. “If you go around the Czech Republic, not only northern Moravia, and you see a large number of halls and investors, it is clear that CzechInvest stands behind many of them.”
