  • Lufthansa call centre in Brno has new headquarters

    Lufthansa presented the brand-new headquarters of its Brno call centre to customers and the broader public. The company left its original space in the Brno- Modrice and moved to the Spielberk Office Centre in Brno. Lufthansa has already invested more than USD 650 thousand in construction of a new customer centre in Brno.

  • First Czech biotechnology yearbook being published

    The South Moravian Innovation Centre is currently publishing the Czech Republic’s biotechnology yearbook – Czech Biotech Report. This concerns a wholly unique publication, the first of its kind in the modern history of the country, which provides a detailed overview of the biotechnology sector in the Czech Republic with emphasis on industry and research. As in the case of the Czech biotechnology portal www.gate2biotech.com, CzechInvest is a partner of this project.

  • Hyundai Motor Company decided for the Czech Republic

    The contractual parties represented by the Minister Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Milan Urban, Governor of the Moravia-Silesia Region Evzen Tosenovsky and Senior Vice-President of HMC In-Seo Kim agreed on the following joint statement on the results of the negotiation of HMC´s investment in the Czech Republic.

  • Czech Republic experiences record economic growth

    The Czech economy is successful, growing by 6 per cent last year, a record figure in its history. Extraordinarily good foreign trade results and foreign investment are the main factors. Export performance of the economy is especially outstanding. With more cars, machinery and other Czech-made products selling abroad, export trade grew twice as fast as imports last year. Statisticians also say the economic figures signal a gradual acceleration of the growth. Czech GDP expansion started with 5.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2005 ending with a record 6.9 per cent for the last three months of the year.

  • Automotive Lighting to carry out massive expansion in the Czech Republic

    Jihlava-based Automotive Lighting, a part of the holding company of the same name and one of the world’s largest producers of automotive lighting technology, is planning a massive expansion of its factory. The company will invest more than EUR 89 million over five years.

  • Brno holds title of City of the Future

    BRNO was recognized as the Central European City of the Future at the real-estate trade fair in Cannes. Following its victory in the Visegrad category of the European Cities and Regions of the Future competition, this marks the South Moravian metropolis’s second international award. The subject of the assessment in Cannes consisted in the economic potential of individual cities and regions, cost level, human resources, telecommunications, transport, quality of life and promotion targeted at foreign investors.

  • Sun Microsystems opens new development center in Prague

    Sun Microsystems, a leading global provider of computer technology, has opened a first-class development center and new headquarters of its Czech branch in the Chodov district of Prague. Jiri Havel, the Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy, and Minister of Informatics Dana Berova took part in the celebratory launch of operations at the new headquarters yesterday. Sun Microsystems is investing approximately USD 10,9 million in new jobs for highly qualified software-development specialists, and USD 10,6 million in technical equipment. Over 200 developers will work in the new development center, and their number should double to 400 by 2008.

  • Czech roadmap to knowledge economy to be unveiled in Brussels

    The fourth annual European Business Summit (EBS) will be held in Brussels on March 16-17, 2006. Every year, the EBS brings together leading European politicians, top managers and a range of distinguished experts from various fields. This year, the summit will feature leaders in the area of science and research so that, in cooperation with others, they can initiate a dialogue on the use of knowledge to accelerate economic growth and create new job opportunities.

  • State development agency CzechInvest has new spokesperson

    Business and Investment Development Agency CzechInvest has named Alzbeta Honsova as its new spokesperson. Ms. Honsova, who was previously the manager of the Agency’s press department, takes over the position from the head of external communications, Jana Viskova, who is leaving CzechInvest after three and a half years.
