First Czech biotechnology yearbook being published

28 Mar. 2006 | CzechInvest | The South Moravian Innovation Centre is currently publishing the Czech Republic’s biotechnology yearbook – Czech Biotech Report. This concerns a wholly unique publication, the first of its kind in the modern history of the country, which provides a detailed overview of the biotechnology sector in the Czech Republic with emphasis on industry and research. As in the case of the Czech biotechnology portal www.gate2biotech.com, CzechInvest is a partner of this project.

The main purpose of the yearbook is to map and describe in a transparent way the Czech biotechnology sector and thus facilitate interaction between companies and research organizations at the national and international level.

“The yearbook contains a complete database of all laboratories operating in the biotechnology sector in the Czech Republic. It is intended for domestic and foreign subjects for which it will facilitate the maintaining of contacts with other specialists, institutions and companies engaged in biotechnologies,“says Michal Kostka, manager for the biotechnology sector at the South Moravian Innovation Centre.

In addition to the well-arranged database sectioned according to several criteria, the yearbook also contains profiles of companies and research establishments, interviews with leading Czech specialists in the field and industry specialist articles. Furthermore, the yearbook presents companies that offer related services in the areas of financing and consulting.

“By supporting the inception of the Czech Biotech Report, we are strengthening the visibility of the Czech biotechnology sector and we firmly believe that this is reflected both here at home as well as in the inflow of investments of this type into the Czech Republic from abroad,“ explains Tomas Hruda, CEO of CzechInvest, adding: “We are pursuing the same goal through our presentation of Czech potential at the biggest industry conference – BIO 2006, which will take place in April of this year in Chicago, and through our partnership and cooperation in launching the unique sector portal www.gate2biotech.com.“
