PolyComp resolved the problem of worn-down tyres
25 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestPolyComp, a.s., producer of energy equipment for power & heating industry, industrial facilities and heating plants will introduce their TKKA-ZKL unique testing and calibrating line for worn-down tyre processing. There are calls for this new technology both in the home country and abroad.

The Czech Republic begins to assert itself in the field of biotechnologies
24 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestStarting today, the Czech Republic is hosting the first international biotechnology trade fair to take place in Central Europe, BIOTEC 2006, at which the International Clinical Research Centre (ICRC) Brno is being introduced. Another part of the trade fair is the Gate2biotech conference, which is to present high-quality Czech projects in the field of biotechnologies and biomedicine. Several leading foreign specialists will participate in the conference.

Honeywell opened Global Aviation Center in Prague
20 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestThe American firm Honeywell opened a Global Aviation Center for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in Prague. The facility is to create 500 jobs within the first year. The center is located in the Czech Republic due to the country’s well-developed infrastructure, strategic location in Europe and its high-quality workforce.

With the EU support the largest biogas plant in Europe was built in Znojmo region in the Czech Republic
19 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestZevo, spol. s r.o., of South Moravia, the builder of a plant producing biogas from organic waste in Velky Karlov in the region of Znojmo, has already obtained the EU subsidy amounting to EUR 1 million. The construction of the plant was realised in two stages from November 2005 and the firm paid for it the sum of EUR 6 million, including the subsidy.

Foreign direct investments in developed economies see a sharp increase, the Czech Republic has strengthened its position
17 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestIn the last year the developed economies, including EU Member States, succeeded to attract more foreign direct investments (FDI‘s) by 37 per cent than in the year before when their inflow amounted USD 542 milliard in total. Those countries have remained the strongest recipients and investors at the same time and their prospects for future growth are very promising. This fact follows from the latest edition of The World Investment Report 2006, the report on international investment issued by the UN Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Industrial Zone of the Year 2005
12 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestAwards were presented at Prague Exposition Grounds for the highest-quality industrial zones and business properties in the Czech Republic. The sixth annual Industrial Zone of the Year awards presentation was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the business development agency CzechInvest, in cooperation with the Association for Foreign Investment. This year’s edition of the awards was also supported by the Ministry for Regional Development. In addition to representatives of both ministries, representatives of regions and municipalities throughout the Czech Republic also participated in the event.

The survey is based on polls among managers of 507 major European companies and focuses on factors regarded by firms as important for their decisions on opening a new branch. The top criteria include the quality of communications, the level of costs and quality of life.

Hitachi starts construction in the Czech Republic
5 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvestThe Japanese company Hitachi, Ltd. has begun construction of a plant for the production of flat-panel displays in the Triangle industrial zone, which is approximately 80 km northwest of Prague in the Usti region of the Czech Republic. The new branch, which is to cover the growing demand for flat-panel TVs in Europe, will employ up to 1,500 people. The operation will include a design and R&D division, which will be in close contact with the R&D division of Hitachi Europe.
