Honeywell opened Global Aviation Center in Prague

20 Oct. 2006 | CzechInvest | The American firm Honeywell opened a Global Aviation Center for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in Prague. The facility is to create 500 jobs within the first year. The center is located in the Czech Republic due to the country’s well-developed infrastructure, strategic location in Europe and its high-quality workforce.

“This investment confirms the ever-increasing inflow into the Czech Republic of investments involving cutting-edge technology. The exceptionality of the Honeywell project is also demonstrated by the fact that an entirely new category has been created here. The transfer of the center is an event that does not often happen in the context of the world economy, and I am pleased that the company has chosen the Czech Republic," says Tomas Hruda, CEO of CzechInvest.

The center will be engaged in development and formation of projects, as well as in collaboration with customers. It should thus assist in the development of new products and ensure business, marketing and engineering operations for the company. By the end of the year, the new center will employ 150 Czech engineers, technicians and other specialists.

“We are delighted to announce the grand opening of Honeywell's new facilities in Prague,” adds Jaroslav Dolezal, National Executive for the Czech Republic, Honeywell. “This is a major milestone, marking an expanded commitment to the Czech Republic and our EMEA customers. Prague was selected for its long-term affordability, a growing industrial base/infrastructure, access to critical technical skills, and close proximity to Honeywell’s EMEA business.”

The global center is located in Prague’s modern Chodov district in the vicinity of the multinational companies IBM, Sony, Dell, Accenture, Aral, BP, DHL and Sun Microsystems.
