Varroc Lighting Systems s.r.o., a leading global manufacturer of exterior automotive lighting components, is planning to implement an investment in the value of CZK 1.28 billion at its domestic plants. The company will thus create fifty new jobs in the Karviná and Nový Jičín districts. CzechInvest helped to mediate the investment.

“Especially people with technical education will find work here thanks to the expansion of production. Opportunities will be available for skilled workers in the Moravia-Silesia region, which has long been afflicted with high unemployment,” says Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek. New positions will be created for electrical engineers, IT engineers, designers and optical technicians.

“The company applied for investment incentives in September 2013 and was awarded incentives at the beginning of January this year,” explains Ondřej Votruba, acting CEO of CzechInvest. “Ninety-eight companies applied for investment incentives in the past year, making it the most fruitful of the past several years in terms of the number of incentives applications.”

Specifically the plants in Šenov u Nového Jičína and Rychvald in the Karviná district will be expanded in the coming years. The plan includes the purchase of new advanced technologies and modernisation of the manufacturing park as well as research and development. “The main reason for our investment-incentives application was to obtain financial resources for implementing new investments that would support the ongoing growth of the company in the Czech Republic and thus also of the Moravia-Silesia region itself,” says Aleš Vrobel, financial manager of Varroc Lighting Systems.

Varroc Lighting Systems is part of the Varroc Group of India, which operates branches in Asia, Europe and North America. The company provides headlamps and rear lighting assemblies to customers including major automotive brands such as Bentley, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Škoda and Tesla. The company employs more than 2,300 people in the Czech Republic. This history of the Czech branch dates back to 1879; it was originally known under the name Autopal State Enterprise.
