In connection with Investment Week, CzechInvest’s regional office in Zlín organised a seminar on the topic of brownfields and possibilities of their development. Sixty people attended the event, which was held at the Technology Innovation Centre on 26 May 2015.
Representatives of CzechInvest present the National Brownfield Database and the new Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness, from which it is possible to obtain financing for brownfield regeneration. Another topic of discussion was cooperation between the public and private sectors in the form of public-private partnerships.
Officials from the Zlín Regional Authority then presented the Regional Database of Brownfields and representative of the State Environmental Fund gave a presentation on the Operational Programme Environment.
A model example was presented by Miroslav Silný, jr. of the company FORT – PLASTY s.r.o., which refurbished its production complex with aid from the previous Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation.
The Zlín region has a number of abandoned buildings of various types. The best-known industrial brownfields include, for example, the Baťa complex in the centre Zlín, the film-studio complex in the Kudlov district of Zlín, and a former sugar mill in Hulín.
