CzechInvest is organising the second edition of Investment Week, which will take place in the last week of May. The week will feature a number of events in Prague and other locations throughout the Czech Republic with the purpose of supporting the country’s business environment. This year’s programme includes a professional conference, a luncheon for selected investors hosted by the prime minister, and numerous meetings, presentations and school excursions. Investment week will culminate with the Investor and Business Property of the Year 2014 awards ceremony, which will be held at Žofín on Thursday, 28 May 2015.

With Investment Week, CzechInvest is continuing in its effort to strengthen cooperation between the government and investors, and to address the weaknesses of the Czech business environment. The second annual event will take place in conjunction with the Year of Industry and Technical Education 2015 project organised by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.

“We have therefore included the country’s skilled workforce among the topics in the programme,” says Karel Kučera, CEO of CzechInvest. “A number of excursions of elementary- and secondary-school students to manufacturing companies will take place primarily in the regions with the purpose of popularising technical fields, in which the younger generations have long shown little interest.”

The main topics of the conference titled A New Phase of Investment Support in the Czech Republic, which will be held at Žofín on Thursday, 28 May 2015, will be new aspects of the Investment Incentives Act and the new Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness 2014-2020, which offers businesses aid from EU structural funds. Other topics to be discussed include visa policy, the Building Act and the Environmental Impact Assessment Act. Speakers will include representatives of CzechInvest, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other ministries, and selected investors.

Also at Žofín on the same day, selected investors will meet for lunch with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek and CzechInvest CEO Karel Kučera. This will be followed in the evening by the Investor and Business Property of the Year 2014 awards ceremony organised by CzechInvest in cooperation with the Association for Foreign Investment. The awards bring recognition to beneficial investment projects and projects involving industrial zones and business properties that contributed to the Czech Republic’s business environment in the past year.

Investment Week is loosely connected with the Get MORE investment conference organised by the Regional Development Agency, which is to be held on 3 June 2015 in Ostrava.
