Research and Development

Research and Development is considered a key area for the future development of our economy.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, in cooperation with CzechInvest, is providing various forms of financial support (from structural funds, the state budget and community resources).

CzechInvest actively seeks out and, using the most various instruments (consultation, information service, active cooperation in seeking partners, etc.), supports private firms with innovation potential and focuses on increasing the involvement of public-sector institutions in the innovation process.

Research and Development Capacities

R&D capacities are understood to be infrastructure (facilities, buildings, laboratory equipment), technologies, licenses, people, etc.

Potential has the goal of strengthening companies’ research and development capacities in connection with such companies’ production activities. The establishment and development of technology centres and internal research and development departments is supported in particular. The programme is part of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation, and is intended for all enterprises regardless of their size.

Prosperity is focused on support for mutual cooperation between science-research institutions, universities and companies in the form of establishment and development of science and technology parks, business incubators and technology-transfer centres. The programme is part of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation, and is intended for business entities, universities and public research institutions.

Cooperation supports the establishment and development of cooperative groupings (clusters, fields of excellence and technology platforms) in which companies, universities and research institutes cooperate. The programme is part of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation, and is intended for companies, universities and public research institutions.

Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation area of support 2.1 is focused on the development of technical research capacities in regions, particularly at universities and public research institutions.

Results of research and development

R&D results are understood to be patents, utility models, industrial designs and protected trademarks. CzechInvest supports the creation of an environment for the commercialisation of results, transfer of technologies and their utilisation on the market. The programmes are primarily focused on the wider use of legal protection of intellectual property.

Projects for the Protection of Industrial Property Rights – this part of the Innovation Programme contributes, through subsidies, to the wider use of protection of intangible assets in the form of patents, utility models, industrial designs and protected trademarks. The programme is part of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation, and is intended for business entities, universities and public research institutions.

Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation area of support 2.2 is intended for the creation of conditions and a system for the establishment of new technology firms and utilisation of protection of intellectual property at universities and public research institutions.
