Red Hat is Growing in Brno

CzechInvest is happy to announce that the Czech subsidiary of Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, plans to acquire space in a new office building in Brno, Czech Republic, with potential capacity for up to 200 new employees. The Forum Business Centre II is expected to be completed by the end of 2012 and the owners, Professional Facility Management, plan to invest 80 million Crowns in the project.

”Research and development are key focus areas for us, so I am delighted that Red Hat has achieved such great success in our country,” says CEO of CzechInvest agency Miroslav Krizek. ”It also demonstrates that the Czech Republic has excellent conditions for IT business.”

Red Hat has worked closely with CzechInvest, the investment and business development agency of the Czech Republic, to help build its presence in the region. Red Hat first established its operation in Brno six years ago and this office has grown to be one of its largest development centers globally. Red Hat in the Czech Republic employs close to 400 people, over 100 of whom joined Red Hat within the last year. Red Hat’s Brno office was established with the help of a grant awarded by Operational Programme Entrepreneurship and Innovations (OPEI), which is administered by CzechInvest.

“The exceptional talent on our Czech Republic team is a key contributor to Red Hat’s success,” says Radovan Musil, director of Red Hat´s development center in Brno. “We are also able to leverage good cooperation with local colleges and universities such as CVUT, Masaryk University, Brno University of Technology and Slovak University in Zilina.”

The Red Hat Brno office has accumulated numerous awards during its six-year history. Most recently it was accredited as Best Employer 2010/2011 as part of the annual Best Employer study by Aon Hewitt. Head Office, Forum Business Centre, occupied the third place in the CzechInvest and the Association for Foreign Investment – AFI Business Property of the year 2010 in the high-tech real estate category.
