13 Apr. 2016 | CzechInvest | CzechInvest’s mission has shifted focus to Detroit
After attending the New York International Auto Show and meetings with investors in the American Midwest, the mission of a team from CzechInvest is continuing in Detroit. From Tuesday, 12 April 2016, representatives of the agency are participating in the SAE 2016 international congress, which is one of the most prestigious trade fairs in the sector. This year’s edition of the event has the theme of Powering Possibility, which is intended to spur the start of deeper discussion about findings whose potential is still not being fully used in the automotive industry.
The American Midwest is a traditional industrial area. The dominant sector here is the automotive industry, which is also of key importance for the Czech Republic. The biggest American carmakers – General Motors, Ford and Chrysler – are based in the Detroit area. The Czech Republic has approach and attracted a number of investors from this location, such as Lear, Johnson Controls, Federal Mogul, Dura and, most recently, A123 Systems. The automotive industry comprises approximately 20% of Czech industrial production and exports.
