Investment Week: Lias Vintířov demonstrates keramzit to students from Karlovy Vary
28 May. 2015 | CzechInvest | Special technology is required for the lightweight material, which is used primarily in the construction industry.
Lias Vintířov, lehký stavební materiál k.s. recently demonstrated keramzit, a lightweight building material, to local students in connection with Investment Week. The students’ visit to the company was organised by CzechInvest in cooperation with the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.
Thirty eighth-grade students from the Karlovy Vary Poštovní Elementary School toured the entire production facility on Tuesday, 25 May 2015. They were familiarised with the whole production process, from extraction of the input raw material to completion of the final product.
Keramzit is used in the production of lightweight ceramic gravel, concrete, bricks, floor tiles, kerbs, stairs, noise barriers and whole prefabricated buildings. It can be used as a stand-alone product or mixed with standard concrete. In comparison with concrete, keramzit is characterised by its light weight and excellent thermal- and sound-insulation properties.
For working with this material, Lias Vintířov uses a unique technology that requires specially trained employees, of which there is currently a lack across the regions.
