Karel Kučera named new CEO of CzechInvest
22 Oct. 2014 | CzechInvest | Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek appointed him to the position on Tuesday, 21 October 2014.
Karel Kučera is taking over the agency from Ondřej Votruba, who had served as the acting CEO since February this year. Kučera was appointed on the basis of a selection process and Minister Mládek praised primarily Kučera’s experience working with multinational companies and in the private investment sphere, which will help the new CEO with finding new investors and implementation of future investments in the Czech Republic. At the same time, Mládek thanked Ondřej Votruba for the work that he had carried as the acting CEO of CzechInvest and expressed his pleasure in the fact that Votruba will continue to play a role in the agency’s management.
Karel Kučera is a graduate of the University of Economics, Faculty of International Relations, and of the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague. He has worked for several multinational companies such as Deutsche Post and the consulting firms Accenture and M.C. Triton. Kučera has stated that as CEO of CzechInvest he primarily wants to build up and effectively use the potential of the agency’s network of foreign offices and to enhance their focus on direct communication with investors, while also increasing CzechInvest’s activities in foreign markets and improving the management and coordination of those activities.
