JIC Innovation Park Named High-Tech Property of 2011

JIC Innovation Park in Brno has won the top prize in the Business Property of the Year 2011 competition in the High-tech Property category. The park operated by the South Moravian Innovation Centre comprises nearly 60 innovative firms and start-ups in the areas of ICT, computer security, software engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, biotechnology and other fields. Three hundred people have found work in the park, two-fifths of them in research and development.

The second-place winner in this category is the Hydraulics Laboratory of ČKD Blansko Engineering, a.s., which is also located in the South Moravia region. The laboratory ensures development and acceptance testing of models of water and pump turbines, pumps and flow calibration. An additional facility, the second universal station for measurement of water-turbine and pump models, was put into operation in December 2011.

The Kunovice – Panský dvůr Business Incubator took third place in the High-Tech Property category. The incubator was established through the regeneration of a protected historical site and began operation with 100% occupancy following building approval in September 2011. The incubator hosts 29 firms operating in the areas of information technology, design and architecture, economics, advertising and promotion.

The results of the Business Property of the Year 2011 competition were announced by CzechInvest and the Association for Foreign Investment in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday, 6 November 2012 at Veletržní palác in Prague. The decisive factors in determining the winners were the investment amount, type of investment and new jobs created by all companies that decided to occupy the given business property and, for example, the extent of social benefit of the given property. Besides representatives of business properties, awards were also presented to investors that have made the greatest contribution to the economic development of the Czech Republic.

CzechInvest has been attracting investors to the Czech Republic for twenty years and therefore this year the traditional Investor and Business Property of the Year competition bore the name Investor and Business Property of the Past Twenty years and awards were presented to the most important investor and business property of the past two decades.

The main partners of the event were the ČEZ Group and ČSOB. CTP Invest was the partner. The supporting partners were the National Gallery in Prague, the agencies Quix and AC&C, Zátiší group and the Association for Recognition of Quality. The media partners were Czech Radio, Ekonom weekly, Prague Leaders Magazine and the magazines Project & Property and Development News.
