Japanese AMCON to employ 20 Czech suppliers

26 Oct. 2011 | CzechInvest, AMCON Europe | Its first European branch in Prague has been opened.

AMCON will assemble,in the Chrášťany u Prahy industrial park, wastewater treatment equipments used in industrial wastewater treatment plants and municipal wastewater treatment plants. The company has concluded contracts with twenty Czech suppliers whose value exceeds CZK 50 million. CzechInvest has significantly helped with the work on this investment project by looking up all the suppliers AMCON requested in its databases.

“AMCON operates in a modern field of business and came to the Czech Republic for high-quality Czech suppliers. Of course we welcome such investments here,” says Minister of Industry and Trade Martin Kocourek. “The government recently accepted the International Competitiveness Strategy which we prepared. As soon as its individual measures are gradually implemented, I am convinced that more and more technologically demanding projects will come to the Czech Republic.”

“Investment by AMCON is proof of the Czech Republic’s attractiveness for foreign investors, in particular due to its position in the heart of Europe,” says Miroslav Křížek, CzechInvest General Director. “Since 1993, CzechInvest has facilitated 99 Japanese investment projects. Recently, we have noted a shift from traditional production projects to those with a higher added value,” notes Miroslav Křížek.

“AMCON has invested in the Czech Republic in a way different from the majority of other Japanese companies. The reason lying behind their investment often entails collaboration with large Japanese investors already present in the country, such as TPCA and Daikin. We have selected the Czech Republic especially due to its strategic location. Thus we are close to markets both in the Czech Republic and other European countries, as well as Russia,” explains Takaaki Yamamoto, AMCON Europe s.r.o. CEO.

AMCON is one of the most significant global producers of wastewater treatment equipments. The company mainly manufactures sludge treatment equipments called Volute Dewatering Press. It is friendly to the operator and to the environment as its operational cost (mainly electricity) is one of the lowest compared to other technologies in the world and reduces the volume of sludge necessary to be transported to a land-fill or incineration plants by more than 80%.
