A total of 350,000 people from more than 100 countries attended the event and approximately 920 game companies presented new developments from the world of interactive entertainment. For the first time, the Czech Republic had a national stand at the trade fair, at which CzechTrade presented Czech five game studios to the public. The stand was ceremoniously opened by Robert Otepka, consul of the Czech Republic in the Germany state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Representatives of CzechInvest familiarised interested parties with investment opportunities in this sector in the Czech Republic.
The trade fair’s main focus was on games that can be played with friends and family via tablets and smartphones. The field of e-sport also received strong interest and was the subject of the one-day SPOBIS Gaming & Media event. In addition to game consoles, computer games and accessories, virtual reality projects were also presented on the trade-fair floor, which covered an area of 201,000 m2.
