Eaton expands its R&D facilities at new Innovation Centre in Roztoky u Prahy

The power management company Eaton celebrated the expansion of its European Innovation Centre on 9 June 2015. The new building is part of the science and technology park in Roztoky u Prahy, which is a global research centre focused on innovation for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Eaton has long collaborated with CzechInvest and the Czech Technical University in Prague. CzechInvest CEO Karel Kučera attended the opening of the new facilities.
At the innovation centre, the company conducts high-level research focused on the development of a new generation of energy systems that enable more efficient, safer and sustainable use and management of electrical, hydraulic and mechanical energy. At present, 75 people are employed at the innovation centre. The company plans to increase that number to as many as 300 in the coming years in response to strong demand from customers in the region. The Czech facility is one of Eaton’s five main innovation centres, the others being in the United States, India and China.
Eaton’s Czech branch opened in 1993 under the Felton & Guileaume brand. Today it employs approximately 1,500 people in Prague, Suchdol nad Lužnicí, Pohořelice and Chomutov, serving local and global customers including the Volkswagen Group, Volvo, E.ON, HP, IBM and České dráhy.
