Together with ten other exhibitors from the Czech Republic, CzechInvest attended the 2017 BIO International Convention starting on Monday, 19 June 2017, in San Diego. More than 1,800 exhibitors and nearly 16,000 people from 74 countries took part in the convention, which is one of the most prestigious global events in the field of biotechnology. In addition to broad conference-level discussions, bilateral talks were also held in the course of the convention. According to the organisers’ statistics, the convention’s online partnering system mediated a record number of more than 41,000 meetings during the period of the event.
“In combination with public investments in new research capacities, the tradition of Czech research in the life sciences sector has attracted investment projects of major companies, such as Lonza, Teva, Merck and Otsuka. The Czech Republic’s attractiveness as a partner for both research and production activities was confirmed in a number of meetings that were held in connection with our exhibition. We believe that some of the projects discussed will be implemented in the Czech Republic,” said Hana Chlebná, head of the Department of Sector Specialisation and Promotion.
