CzechInvest presents Czech centres of excellence during Life Sciences Week in Basel, Switzerland
30 Sep. 2015 | CzechInvest | Innovative approaches and new technologies for effective development of medications were the main themes of the MipTec international trade fair, which took place in connection with the European Life Sciences Week.
In cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bern, CzechInvest held a seminar on the topic of “Czech Centres of Excellence” on 23 September 2015. The seminar took place in connection with the MipTec trade fair and was part of an industrial symposium which was one of the major events in the course of the trade fair. The objective of the seminar was to present the current state of research and development of medications in the Czech Republic. The seminar was commenced by the Czech Republic’s ambassador in Switzerland, Karel Borůvka, and was attended by representatives of renowned Czech firms and institutions such as Apigenex, the Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute, the International Clinical Research Centre and the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The primary focus of attention was pharmaceutical chemistry and its current development and future direction. Other important topics included new processes in treating cancer and current application of translational medicine in practice.
The MipTec trade fair ranks among the globally prestigious events in the life sciences sector, which is of key importance for the Czech Republic. The trade fair took place from 22 to 24 September 2015 in Basel, Switzerland and was a unique opportunity to present the current state of research and development in the area of biomedicine and pharmacy in the Czech Republic.
