CzechInvest opens office in Korea
25 Feb. 2015 | CzechInvest | Czech prime minister Bohuslav Sobotka and CzechInvest CEO Karel Kučera announced the opening in Seoul.
CzechInvest has expanded its network of foreign offices with the opening of a branch in South Korea, which was officially announced today by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and the agency’s CEO Karel Kučera on the occasion of a meeting with Korean partners and businesspeople in Seoul.
“The successfully developing relations with South Korea and the country’s strong investment potential necessitated the establishment of a new CzechInvest office there,” says Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek. “Nexen Tire and Hyundai Mobis announced major investments in the Czech Republic last year and we can expect more to come soon.”
“CzechInvest’s office in Korea will help to bring about closer and more intensive communication with our existing potential partners. It is confirmation of our interest in maintaining good relations between the Czech Republic and Korea in the area of investments,” says Karel Kučera, CEO of CzechInvest.
CzechInvest established its first foreign office in London in 1994. Beside Great Britain and, newly, South Korea, the agency currently has operations is five other key destinations around the world, including the East and West Coasts of the United States, Germany, Japan and China. The main task of these offices is to generate new investment projects to be implemented in the Czech Republic while also providing feedback on the investment situation of the given region.
The Korean office, which will be housed in the Czech embassy in Seoul, will be led by Martin Jírovec, who previously worked for the Czech branch of KOTRA, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. In connection with the start of the new office’s operations, CzechInvest has also launched a Korean-language version of its website at www.czechinvest.org/ko.
