4 Apr. 2016 | CzechInvest | Meetings held with major American investors

Generální ředitel CzechInvestu se účastní oficiální mise předsedy vlády po USA

On Thursday, 31 March 2016, CzechInvest CEO Karel Kučera took part in meetings with GE Aviation in connection with Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka’s trip to the United States. Mr. Kučera met with the company’s president and COO, David Joyce, regarding a planned centre for the development and production of new-generation turboprop aircraft engines. The centre should be established in the Czech Republic on the basis of a memorandum signed by the American company and the Czech government in January this year. GE Aviation Turboprops is located in Prague’s Letňany district and, with more than 400 employees, is the largest turboprop engine development and production centre in the Czech Republic.

A working breakfast was also held with representatives of other American companies operating in the Czech Republic. In particular, the investors discussed their experience with doing business in our country, legislation and the general state of the Czech economy and labour market. Over the course of the independent Czech Republic’s history, the United States has become the fifth biggest foreign investor in the country’s economy and the biggest investor outside the European Union. The volume of American investments in the Czech Republic is greater than USD 6 billion. Only the projects mediated my CzechInvest have created nearly forty thousand jobs.

More meetings with American potential investors will be held in the coming days.
