Czech nanotechnology roadshow tours the American East Coast

CzechInvest and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York conducted a  series of presentations, meetings and visits connected with the nanotechnology sector in October in three cities on the East Coast of the United States. Six Czech firms and research institutes operating in the area of nanofibres, nanoparticles and polymers participated in the roadshow, which had the purpose of presenting the Czech Republic’s capability in these fields and establishing closer cooperation with the participants’ American counterparts.

Representatives of the companies Advanced Materials – JTJ s.r.o., NANO IRON, s.r.o. and SYNPO, a.s. presented their technologies and business plans, while specialists from the Central European Institute of Technology and the Department of Nonwoven Textiles and Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technologies and Innovation at the Technical University of Liberec presented their latest findings and research and education activities.

In addition to presentations and networking, the road show featured a visit to the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, a joint project of Columbia University and the City University of New York, a tour of the SUNY College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany and a meeting with research teams at Boston University. At the same time, everyone in attendance had the possibility to take part in meetings with patent specialists from the Hodgson Russ law firm and to meet with Carlton Vann, a representative of the Office of the Mayor of New York.
