Czech Firms Penetrate Markets in Five Global Destinations
23 Feb. 2012 | CzechInvest, Ministry of Industry and Trade, ConPro | The CzechAccelerator 2011-2014 Programme is Helping Czech Firms to Take on Global Competition.
CzechInvest’s CzechAccelerator 2011-2014 programme offers participants the possibility of a residency in one of the world’s top technology destinations, the opportunity to engage investors and foreign or technology partners and to apply their business plans abroad. Thirteen innovative Czech firms (three repeatedly) have been involved in the first and second calls for submission of registrations. Participants have already gained valuable experience mainly on the East and West Coasts of the United States.
“Our three-month stay in Silicon Valley was the start of our “American dream”. We met with interesting partners, participated in a number of conferences and got our product on the homepages of major foreign portals over the course of several weeks. For us, the United States is a key market with the largest number of users, whereas all development remains in the Czech Republic,” says Filip Molčan CZECHGEEKS s.r.o., a developer of web and mobile applications and the Moredays.com web-based planner.
“Our stay at the Cambridge Innovation Center gave our firm the chance to truly experience the business environment in the United States and, in our own way, to become part of the Boston business community, which is extremely inspiring. It changed our perception of business and view of success,” Ing. Tomáš Engelmajer of FLAVEKO Trade spol. s.r.o., which produces extracts from natural materials. “The contacts which we established are very promising and the experience we gained is helping us with addressing and acquiring new potential clients and partners in the future.”
“We flew to Boston with the clear objective of finding an investor, whether a venture-capital fund or business angel, exploring the new environment for entering the American market and obtaining references from hospitals and healthcare facilities. After six weeks, we changed the objective of the mission when market research brought us key information on the type of investor to involve in the project,” says Ing. Mgr. Petr Uličný, whose MouthMouse device helps people with impaired motor function to control common household appliances, televisions and computers using movements of their lips, mouth or head, thus enabling them to write e-mails, use the telephone, etc.
