CTPark Ostrava named Zone of the Year 2009

The winner of the Business Property of the Year 2009 competition in the Zone of the Year category is CTPark Ostrava, which in 2009 leased out more than 33,000 square metres of commercial spaces. Second and third places were awarded to the Jaktáře Industrial Zone and Liberec North Commercial and Industrial Zone.Representative of CTPark Ostrava received the award today at 7:00 p.m. at the Cloister of St. Agnes of Bohemia in Prague during the celebratory announcement of the results of the tenth annual Business Property of the Year competition organised by CzechInvest in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Association for Foreign Investment (AFI).

CTPark Ostrava, which is part of the Ostrava-Hrabová Industrial Zone, expanded significantly in 2009. New tenants leased more than 33,000 square metres of spaces. Newly incoming tenants include, for example, auto-parts manufacturers, freight forwarders, and providers of IT services and financial consulting services, which together plan to create more then 800 new jobs. “The biggest investment was for the American-Italian company ITT, for which we built a new production complex covering approximately 23,000 square metres,” says Remon Vos, general manager of CTP Invest.

At CTPark Ostrava construction of another hall with an area of 24,000 square metres is being completed. “The new hall will be partially occupied by the logistics firm I-Zone; we will offer the remaining spaces for lease,” adds park manager Petra Pivovarová.

Second place in the Zone of the Year category was awarded to the Jaktáře Industrial Zone. In 2009 the property-development company ILFO concluded a contract on leasing property in this zone in Uherské Hradište with the company FORSCHER, which operates as a supplier for companies in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries.

The third-place award in the Zone of the Year category was presented to the Liberec North Commercial and Industrial Zone, where in 2009 the companies BUSH Výroba CZ and KNORR BREMSE implemented manufacturing investments. In the given period, ELMARCO and the Research Institute of Textile Machines were engaged in the area of research and development here. At their technology centres, both of these firms cooperate with important partners from the ranks of academia, such as the Technical University of Liberec and other leading world universities.

Business Property of the Year is a competition organised each year by CzechInvest and the Ministry of Industry of Trade in cooperation with the Association for Foreign Investment (AFI). The general partner of this year’s competition is the ČEZ Group; the partners are ČSOB, the National Gallery, QUIX and Zátiší Catering. The media partners of the event are Euro, Z1, E15 and Strategie

The competing investment projects are evaluated by a committee composed of representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the AFI, CzechInvest and previous winners. For the first time this year, the celebratory announcement of the winners was realised in conjunction with the announcement of the results of the Investor of the Year competition. The awards were presented to the winners today at 7.00 p.m. at the Cloister of St. Agnes of Bohemia in Prague. The ceremony was attended by guests including members of the government and Parliamentary and Senate committees, governors, ambassadors, significant investors, owners and managers of business properties, and developers.
