Construction of a new factory for the Chinese company BWI began at Panattoni Park Cheb on Wednesday, 23 September 2015. The global manufacturer of shock absorbers and brakessystems will create 300 jobs in the 15,000 m2 facility. CzechInvest assisted with BWI’s entry into the Czech Republic.

The new factory could be in operation from mid-2016. “Most of our customers are in Germany and other countries in Western Europe. That is also one of the reasons why we decided to place our factory in Cheb,” explained Jiang YunAn, president of BWI.

At its new factory in Cheb, BWI will manufacture passive shock absorbers for higher-class vehicles from carmakers including, for example, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Opel and Jaguar Land Rover.

Recruitment of employees is already underway; the highest positions have been filled. Recruitment of production workers should start at the beginning of 2016. Grafton Recruitment, a personnel agency, is in charge of the process.

The industrial zone in Cheb offers investors good availability of qualified workers and a road network connected to the motorway to Germany. BWI will be the first new company in the expanded second phase of the industrial zone, in which up to one thousand people should eventually find work. The decision to place the new factory in Cheb was preceded by a detailed analysis of more than 30 locations in the Czech Republic and Poland.
