Chinese scientists interested in Czech engineering or nanotechnology
27 Jul. 2010 | CzechInvest | Chinese engineers are very much interested in Czech technologies.
Eager to learn more about Czech companies and research and development in the field of advanced engineering, nanotechnology and textile engineering, a seven-member delegation comprising mainly scientists and high-ranking state officials from the Guangdong province, the richest region of China, are paying a visit to CzechInvest today. After the morning session at CzechInvest, the delegation will travel to Liberec in order to visit the local Technical University and the company Elmarco. On Wednesday, the delegation is to visit the South Moravian Innovation Center and the regional government.
“In 2009, China was the sixth largest source of foreign direct investment and, moreover, its companies were the fourth most active in mergers and acquisitions. Up to now, CzechInvest has helped with the implementation of five Chinese projects in the Czech Republic. Looking to the future, I’d venture to say that various forms of partnerships with Czech companies will be more attractive to Chinese research institutions, universities and enterprises than direct greenfield investments,” predicts Alexandra Rudysarova, CEO of CzechInvest, adding that CzechInvest plans to hold the first Czech Technology Days in China as early as this autumn.
“We are searching for possible partnership opportunities in the Czech Republic, mainly in the fields of precision engineering and advanced textile materials because these are the sectors where Czechs are among the world’s best. That is why we want to pay a visit to the Technical University in Liberec with its world-class research in manufacturing and application of nanofibers and other non-woven textiles. Besides that, we are interested in starting cooperation with some Czech clusters,” says Ye Jingtu, Deputy Director General of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province and head of the delegation.
The Chinese visit to the Czech Republic began on Monday. Member of the delegation include Ye Jingtu, Deputy Director General of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province; Zhou Haitao, Division Director Department; Zhan Junqing, Deputy Division Directorof the Department of Finance of Guangdong Province; Xie Shuiming, Managing Director of the Material Research Society of Guangdong; Chen Xinglong, Vice President of the Guangzhou Research Institute of Non-ferrous Metals; Yan Guorong, Division Director of of the Guangzhou Research Institute of Non-ferrous Metals; and Ming Dong, Project Manager of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province.
