China's ambassador to the Czech Republic, Ma Keqing, visited strategic industrial zones in Nošovice and Ostrava-Mošnov and met with Miroslav Novák, governor of the Moravia-Silesia region, on Tuesday, 3 June. Ambassador Ma was accompanied throughout the day by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ondřej Votruba, acting CEO of CzechInvest.
"To date, China has not ranked among the traditional investors in the Czech Republic. Since 1993 we have mediated eight Chinese projects in the combined value of CZK 1.5 billion," says Ondřej Votruba, acting CEO of CzechInvest. "However, we want to focus more on China in future. Together with Minister of Industry and Trade Mládek, we are preparing a visit to China in connection with a presentation of the Czech investment environment to local potential investors."
Following a morning tour of the strategic industrial zone in Nošovice and the Lower Area of Vítkovice National Cultural Monument, Ambassador Ma was welcomed to the Technical University of Ostrava by rector Ivo Vondrák. The ambassador later attended a luncheon hosted by Miroslav Novák, governor of the Moravia-Silesia region, and visited the industrial zone in Ostrava-Hrabov and the Ostrava-Mošnov strategic industrial zone.
