British firm Jeyes Holdings Ltd. to employ 350 in Kadan

19 Apr. 2006 | CzechInvest | Jeyes Group, a leading producer and distributor of cleaning and hygiene products is to build a new production plant in Kadan. The company will gradually invest 87 million Czech crowns and employ 350 people, include 60 secondary-school and university graduates.

An additional 50 jobs will be created by Jeyes’s logistics partner, the company Andreas Schmid, which will build special storage spaces for Jeyes. The total built-up area of both buildings will be 19,500 m2.

“The positive effect of this investment will be all the greater in that Jeyes plans to mostly utilize raw materials and packaging from local producers. A range of jobs will thus be created among subcontractors,” said CEO of CzechInvest Tomas Hruda. “Some time ago, CzechInvest assisted the company in establishing cooperation with the Otava cooperative in Pisek, which subsequently employed 24 people in the production of disinfectant agents for the European market. More than half of those employees are physically disabled.”

The company has already begun its search for Czech subcontractors which will supply packaging made of plastic, glass, paper and other packaging materials not only to the Kadan branch, but also to other Jeyes plants elsewhere in Europe. According to the managing director of Jeyes s.r.o, Evzenie Bymova, the company has had good experience with Czech suppliers. “They offer us good prices while maintaining a high level of quality,” she says.

The company decided to build a new plant due to the growing interest in its products in Central and Eastern Europe. In addition to its suitable location and corresponding space in the local Královský vrch industrial zone, Kadan offers Jeyes a sufficient available work force.
