Ariba helps Czech firms win orders around world
24 May. 2006 | CzechInvestAriba, a leader in the area of comprehensive cost management including provision of global sourcing services and supplier procurement, has opened its office for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in Prague. The Ariba centre will employ up to 90 people, especially university graduates. Thanks to Ariba, Czech firms have already received substantial foreign orders.

Agreement with Hyundai officially signed
18 May. 2006 | CzechInvestCzech delegation comprised of representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Moravia-Silesia Region and CzechInvest definitively signed the agreement with representatives of the carmaker Hyundai’s board on the construction of a new factory in Nosovice.

Prague hosts conference on support for innovation, science and research
18 May. 2006 | CzechInvestConference entitled “Support for Innovation, Science and Research” will take place on the premises of CzechInvest. The Czech Republic is the third country of the former eastern block to host such an event. Similar projects have already taken place in Poland and Hungary.

Investor of the Year 2005
17 May. 2006 | CzechInvestThe most important investors that decided to invest in production, development and strategic services last year in the Czech Republic received awards from Czech ministers as part of the Investor of the Year 2005 ceremony. The sixth anniversary of the event was also marked by the addition of a new category: “Supplier of the Year”, in which Czech firms that are the most significant suppliers of multinational companies are recognised.

Czech-Japan Science and Technology Days this time hosted by the Czech Republic
16 May. 2006 | CzechInvestThis day peaks the official program of the second year of the prestigious meeting of Czech and Japanese government delegates with academics and high-level representatives of the most forward-looking technology firms. The Czech-Japan Science and Technology Days, which have been taking place in the Czech Republic from 15 to 17 May, feature, for example, Shotaro Yachi – the Japanese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hajime Sasaki – the Co-Chairman of the Committee for Europe of the Federation of Japanese Economic Societies (Keidanren) of the Council for Europe, H.E. Hideaki Kumazawa – the Ambassador of Japan to the Czech Republic and a whole host of other distinguished representatives of the Japanese government or academic sphere. Czech Premier Jiri Paroubek and Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Jiri Havel have assumed sponsorship for the event. In all, more than 120 participants are attending, more than 50 of them Japanese.

The EU’s largest platform for medical, biotech research to open in the Czech Republic
6 May. 2006 | CzechInvestMayo Clinic, one of America’s best university hospitals, will activelly take part in the the International Clinical Research Center (ICRC) project, which is being conducted in Brno, Czech Republic. Unique in Europe, ICRC should become a clinical and research education centre specializing in cardio- and neurovascular diseases, disorders of internal organs, neurology and, to some extent, oncology. This represents an opportunity for the Czech Republic to establish the first centre of this type not only in the CEE countries but also in Europe as a whole.
